I’d say more but I’m tripping off this “POWER” still. But I’ll say this much, you can hate Drake, but he’s putting in real work and most of what comes of it is good music. I for one just can’t argue with that. I’m just a fan of music. Simple.
The Daily Dose: “The Remix”
There was a time in my life, when my favourite remix on earth was Talib Kweli’s “Get By”. You know the one, featuring Mos Def, Jay-Z, Kanye West & Busta Rhymes. In fact I’ve mentioned before. The verses were straight heaters. Everybody on that track elevated and accentuated that track with their own flair and brilliance. I didn’t grow up a hip-hop head, I grew up a Jay-Z stan. Quite literally from 1996, up until my college years where my housemates from Botswana fed me all sorts of beautiful music…..up until then….it was pretty much all Jay, all Day.
Then Kanye came on the scene, and I had two hip-hop heroes, I also partly blame “The College Dropout” for my reason 3 years later to just give my degree the finger and follow my heart.
Fast forward to Friday 20th August 2010…
I woke up at about 9am. Thats three hours ago. My facebook inbox was inundated with links to download the “POWER” remix. I gave myself time to calm down and get it together. After all I’d only been waiting a week for this. Last time Kanye dropped a remix with Hov that had me in full spazz mode…it was “Diamonds Are Forever” and neither of them disappointed.

So I downloaded, what I believe to by my birthright as far as hip-hop is concerned…
And I listened…..and I listened….and I listened….its currently sitting at 37 plays in my itunes.
Life is good. I’ve set it before, if music is the number one performance enhancement drug for life well then this song is pure unfiltered and untainted horse steroids !!

Like 7 months ago, I got the chance to facebook chat with Theophilus London, and I ask him what 5 pieces of advice he could share with a young up & comer like myself…..he did so.
The most important thing I took away though, was him saying to perform…do shows….whether its inf ront of 5 or 5000 people. So thats something I’ve kept with me, and to see someone like J. Cole who is world’s away from where I am in my career…applying the same wisdom I was given….and just giving his all no matter what.
I love that.
J. Cole ain’t playing at all though. Damn.

LAWS is dope. No denying that. I first got into dude’s music when I was still in Singapore through his 4:57 Mixtape. I instantly took a liking to his style and diversity. Unfortunately, after that tape I didn’t really keep to close an eye on him. Usually when I dig an artist I’ll look for as much info as I can find on them, part of being an #SOTG, but I guess I slipped up this time.
In any case, this interview is dope, it gives me just what I crave most from these kinda things an inner view. And I learnt a lot from this one, its very often that an artist talks candidly about their creaive process…but its tha dopest when they do cos it gives u an idea of what u shud or shudn’t be doing more or less of. Of course its all about finding what works for you, but its always nice to know what the other guy is up to.
Also dudes attitude to genres and what that means is precisely where my heads BEEN at. If it feels good than I’m doing it. I wish more artists saw it this way. Music is music is music. Just make it and make it magic if u can.

The Daily Dose: I Guess That Makes Me Crazy…
Hi I’m Tendai,
By nature I’m apparently shy. This is according to a wise man I spoke to a few nights ago. Anyway, as a result I tend to not only over-compensate but in fact HYPER-compensate.
My good buddy Tehn Diamond, he’s more than likely a direct result of said hyper-compensation.
In any case, I just thought I’d slide through and let it be known that if thats the case, bet on me and Tehn to hyper-compensate our ass all the way to the bank and back and then some.
I can’t help these feelings. Be they delusions or just psychic confusions. My heart and mind are set one goal.
BE AMAZING.
All that shy shit is for the birds. If I gotta be Tehn till the death of me just to get to where we destined to be then ummm….so the fuck be it !!! I spent a good 22yrs being Tendai….plus I quite like Tehn.
Only downside is one day I’m pretty sure I may even lose Tendai, but you never meant him before now. You won’t miss him. You won’t even know he’s gone.

Music On My Mind: Tara King’s “Warning Shotz”
So not too long ago, I went over to Singapore to perform at a nitespot called The Arena Live. I was out there for 10 months, performing 5 shows a week, 4 times a night…you do the math !!
That shit was an unbelievable physical, mental and emotional strain and drain. But its the reason why I know the amazingly talented and gorgeous Tara King. Hailing all the way from LA, she taught this young Zim boy so much.
I learnt so much from the experience, but even more from her words and guidance. She’s the conscience I never had. Which is why it brings absolute joy to my heart to see her making music that moves you and moves that stop you dead in your tracks.
I love her like a sister, and pray for nothing but success and more success for her.

To say that I love this song would be a gross understatement. It gives me the chills. Its so massive. According to my itunes, I’ve played 134 times since it landed on my laptop & only God knows how many times on my iPhone.
This man gives his entire everything to everything he puts out there. The above performance is no different. Its just crystal clear by every move that he makes, that he is tryna be more amazing than the last time.
I laughed so hard when folk tried to tell me he was finished after the VMA incident, but you only gotta watch a few seconds of this video to know that they was telling bold-faced lies…..and I’m allergic to those.
