The Daily Dose: Dear Uncle Snoop…

What I decided to today, tells me one thing about myself…I’m a GROWN UP KID.

See what I did was, because I saw a tweet from Snoop on twitter, I figured hells yea. Snoop always seems real cool and down to earth and laidback and just down for whatever.

I also have this awesome track, thats like a love song but about…..umm…about getting high…yea sorta like the one I did on SOTG1.0 only this one is ACTUALLY awesome…and it hit me that the only thing this new track is missing…is SNOOP….I mean either him or Cudi….but Cudi ain’t on twitter.

So I hatched a young plan, I’d first tweet him and pretty much beg. I noticed he was watching the World Cup so I thought fuck it….the whole world has a soft spot for us right now, we’re on centre stage…surely doing a track with a young up and comer out the “motherland” would rub him the right way *pause*

So I set it up, tweeted and got re-tweeted by my awesome tweetfam….I think so far its about 30 or so RT’s. And I figured after a while even at just 30 RT’s Snoop would be like “okay WTF, who’s this kid and what the hell is a Zimbabwe ?”

So far ?

Nada. But its early days. The campaign has only just begun….Snoop on this joint would be nutso. And its a dope track. I’ll record it and put up some video of it and stuff….

Anyway here’s the twee, if ur on twitter…well RT ur ass off !!! LOL.

RETWEET if u think Uncle @snoopdogg, shud feature on “The Ballad of Hash Brown” by his nephew from Zimbabwe, Tehn Diamond.

I gotta go get some rest, my days have all of a sudden become very much about walking around like a douche.

peace, love & a thousand re-tweets…

Tehn

The Daily Dose: Why “Boys Will Be Boys” ?

Me listening to “Weekend Come” moments after recording it.

Now back to the question at hand….

Its simple really, the first project was “Higher Learning”, which was basically me tryna justify chasing my dreams and following my heart. It dealt more with the internal and emotional struggles I was going through at the time. I was in essence tryna find and justify myself. I listen to it and only now, a year and a half on, realise how vulnerable a lot of it was. It felt good to let go of all that and finally come clean with myself, and those who know me, about what I wanted from life. Basically, it was they “WHY” of the path I’m on. So with me being, the student of the game, and the game being life…the lesson was to seek and embrace purpose in life.

Then shortly after releasing #SOTG1.0, I was fortunate enough to land an amazing gig in Singapore. Which saw me for the very first time really making a living off of my passion. It was truly a blessing, but also a curse, it gave me a short glimpse into what “the life” could be like. I made the most of every second and just had fun, I was free, I’d proved myself right….or at least I thought so. But in reality, I took my off the bigger picture for a second. But sure as hell had fun doing it…

And I regret none of it. So this next project is filling you all in on the ups and downs of that period between now and the first one. Its the other side of me, the one with a lust for life and all its vices and temptations. Its the period in this journey, where I look back and say oh well “Boys Will Be Boys”.

But just like the first project there’s a lesson in it, and basically that is that its all good to know ur “WHY” but what u do with it is just as important. And thats the story I hope to express in whatever project comes after #SOTG2.0.

The aim of this one musically and conceptually, is to show another side of myself. Because I’m human, and I wanna try and always reflect that…flaws and all. The track above is “Weekend Come” produced by DJ Macson, another extremely talented Zimbabwean musician. Its not hip-hop, but its still music I love. Everytime I had my two days off in Singapore I’d hit Sentosa Beach and just let loose to this kinda music. So I’m so proud of this one and excited about its future…

Enjoy :)

Peace,Love & glow-sticks….

P.S. Here’s #SOTGradio Ep. 2 for ya, just a few previews of tracks on “Boys Will Be Boys”.
