New things I know about stuff…

You learn something new everyday. This is what they say right, well in the past week as of Sunday 6th September, here’s what I’ve learnt thus far…

1. (SUNDAY) You don’t just go to the beach when you feel like it, BECAUSE you feel like it. Sure its the first of your TWO days off, after a long 5 night stretch of giving your all on stage. This doesn’t exempt you from the basic laws of beach-going. The first and most important of which is RESPECT THE DAMN SUN…IF HE AIN’T OUT, WELL THEN YOU SHOULDN’T BE EITHER….no matter how much fun you had the last time you were there…cos the last time you were…umm so was the sun….I know this cos somehow I became the first man of African skin to get sunburnt last time…and what looked a lot like a back tan two days later !

But I digress…

I learnt this little gem the hard way, by letting stupid vodka get the better of me and allowing me to spend a solid 3 fucken hours of my life frolicking in the sand in the pouring rain like the ridiculously blissful and oh so ignorant kid in the photo (I’m 24…I should know better). FAIL !

2. (MONDAY) So its day off number two and you decide to rest up b4 the “work” week starts up again right ? Well here’s the lesson, and I’m gonna just go ahead and use an analogy cos’ I’m pretty sure my mum reads this blog (Hi Mum…love u lots)…

…ITS NOT RESTING IF YOU START THE DAY AT 2am…but you start it with a 30min sprint…fall asleep…wake up at 7am go for another damn sprint…fall asleep…wake up at 12pm….get food (chicken fried rice…yum !)…watch a movie…go for a 30min sprint halfway thru….stay up to watch the rest of the movie (CRANK 2 by the way…so so weird but cool)…fall asleep at 6pm…wake up at 9pm…go for yet another sprint…this time not even bothering to fall asleep…..but waiting till like midnight cos u thought you’d get sucked in by the evil that is FACEBOOK….only to fall asleep at 1am and wake up on Tuesday shocked that you feel like got smacked with a brick (IN PAIN AND VERY MUCH STILL TIRED) – this is not so much a day off but a day ON ! Fail…but worth it

3. (TUESDAY) I learnt that sometimes you’re just better off calling in sick and trying to do what you shoulda done on your day off…REST. Instead I zombie walked into rehearsal…learnt no songs and spend the day looking and feeling like the grumpiest man EVER !!!. FAIL !

4. (WEDNESDAY) And today’s lesson ? Eye-flirting is really just absolute pain and torture. But mostly fun…nah I REALLY learnt that sometimes a single appreciative smiley face in a sea of lets not say hundreds…but we’ll say lots of screaming frantic faces…can make all the difference when it comes time to hit the stage…what could have been a crazed and ego filled performance…becomes almost magical and personal.

One of those magic moments…

JUST SO ITS CLEAR FROM THE JUMP………..

… if u ask he’ll tell u that he rests on Sundays, just so we don’t lose our shit when we realise that he doesn’t rest at all. (but would you ? with a whole planet of stupid humans to watch over…would u even blink ?)

… he voted for Obama. he also voted for Bush. why ? cos its the same circus, with a different clown in the suit.

… he leaked The Blueprint 3 just for shits and giggles.

… NO !!!! God doesn’t twitter…..140 characters is one too many for what he’d like to say and he doesn’t like the thought of wasting the extra character.

… he doesn’t do “the lightning bolt thing” anymore cos’ honestly he thinks its just as played out as the flood thing, he’s gotta some nu nu cooking for us though….

… he’s not a he, he’s a she…and even she isn’t a she….NO LADY GAGA though Its just complicated…

… hates myspace. hates facebook. hates this blog. but loves Matt’s blog for some reason

… he’s laughing at me right now. not Matt…but God. Matt’s too busy to read this….he’ll laugh later though.

…all in all for a god dude, he’s pretty chill….he doesn’t go with the flow…so much as he IS the flow !!!

P.S. I only wrote this cos I’m in love with a blogger,well her writing and she said “does God read blogs?” which got me thinking bout other things God might think or get up to…is that even allowed ?

Like Scotty without Mike

So as you know, or at least should know by now, I’m in Singapore….and have been for the past two months or so. Its awesome. i’m performing 5 nights a week, getting my stage-craft up and I’m singing so much more now too. The voice getting stronger, the freestyles a lil’ slicker…and the energy is nuts with extra nuts on it.

Now going into my 3rd month, a lot of change is going down, both within me and around me…suprise suprise…this is after all THE WORLD. I like change. Hell I even welcome it. Its a chance to grow a little more and I’m so up for it.

I’m out here with a fellow H-Town Boy….JACKPOTT !!!

As you can tell by the pic, we’re rocking out harder than something really really hard…..and loving every minute. For the next month though, my dude’s leaving to visit my nephew….(do the math)…..which means here’s me without whats come to feel like my damn right hand on stage…

But I guess this is a chance to redefine and find myself on stage…and just bring it a little harder.

The Wishlist – Jay-Z

I always say to people that I only became a fan of hip-hop in 2006, when I started to spit. But before that I’d been a Jay-Z fan since 1996. Thats all the hip-hop I listened, all Jay-all day…there wasn’t nothing you could tell me bout Hov’. I vividly remember arguing my ass off when “Ether” came out….I got kicked outta class SOOOO many times cos whenever that argument came up…it meant I had to get mad at somebody.

I’d have conversations with people, and Jay lines would just come out as part of them…seamlessly beside everyday words. Cos’ thats what it was to me, and everyday thing. In my eyes Jay-Z is just the best to ever do it, is a total hip-hop artist. His worst albums are better than the majority of the crap that gets let out.

Don’t get me wrong I’m a fan of so many other artists now, but I know that to my heart I’m a Jay-Hova’a witness…true story.

So this dude is and always will be at the top of my wishlist !
