This is the kinda talent that people don’t even know exist coming out my home. Hopefully with time and once the situation over here gets more stable we’ll all finally get a chance to truly shine on the world stage. But for now check this young man out and lemme know what you think.

As some of you may or may not know…I sampled the movie Higher Learning for all the skits on my mixtape. This opening one is without a doubt my favourite moment in the movie. A nice moment of sobering truth, which for me opened up my eyes to a lot in my own life.
When I first heard it, it was both reassuring and challenging, it really made me feel for the first time in ages that what I was trying to do with my music was okay…as long as I had a plan of course…and I do.
I think I first watched this movie in like 1999, I was on holiday in Cape Town with my Dad and my siblings…I think it was Christmas…and this movie came on TV. I remember even then, being really shocked and taken aback by it. While I didn’t really understand or relate to a lot of what I saw in it, somewhere it touched me.
Ironically enough when I came to write my mixtape and wanted to really tie the theme together, my manager/mentor at the time Scotty Pimpin’ was actually the one who suggested I watch it. In fact he played me a few of the scenes off youtube, and this scene at the start of the mixtape was his idea….So b4 even writing for my tape I spent the earlier parts of 2008 just watching this movie. Cos it was so much of what I’d been through while trying to study, and I wanted to really share that with those who’d eventually hear my music.
Shit like….
Learning a new environment….trying to fit in…..tryna figure out my place and finding the right friends….
I also just wanted to put it out there that I was just human, just like you….as vulnerable and scared…at the time I was scared shitless of being judged…i.e. cos I wasn’t really just rapping…but I truly love singing too….hence the little spoken word bit…I did in there:

Home is where Half the heart is
So while being home has its obvious disadvantages.
1. Shitty internet connection
2. Boredom.
3. Not an extremely active hip-hop scene
It does have its benefits. See I get time to think out here. And lately I’ve been doing a lotta my thinking listening to Common…dunno why but thats how the cookie’s been crumbling lately. And lemme just say…the cookie is tasting good.
I love this version of the track. But I think I love the remix a tad more….who’s with me ?
In the same light though I’ve started writing some stuff for a potential all Common beats mixtape. We’ll see though.
Also I’ve been thinking I really dont wanna rush and complete my album in a damn month. For fuck sakes it took me a good 8 month to put together my first mixtape. Only cos I cared enough. So why rush this. Instead I’m gonna stay on the mixtape grind for a minute and just introduce you to some other sides of me and stuff.
The album will come. But I’m in no hurry. I guess what kinda got me in a panic was feeling for a minute like I’m not official as an artist if I dont have official shit out….but thats not how it works…I’m an artist cos I make art….and I’m official because YOU listen. So its all good. This is all I need for now.
Dont get it twisted though I’m gonna keep tugging strings in the background and making moves to keep progressing. But first things first….the music must BANG like Jenna Haze flick

Back in the Lab
Yes you read it right.
As of this afternoon, I’m getting back in the studio. Finally found time to link up with up and coming Zimbabwean producer TAGZ….and we start our first session today.
I’m excited as balls….needless to say…but I said it…so deal.
In other TehN Diamond news I also had my first official driving lesson. And believe me people this is a big deal. See I had a learner’s license when I was 18…but instead of just doing the damn driving test and keeping it real real offical…I bought my license but kinda fucked over in the process. So now 5 years on I’m back like I left something…
Can’t believe it took me so long to get my shit together. But hey better late than never right ?
I’ll have some new music and stuff by the end of the month for you folk to rock with. So stay tuned. Its about to get nice.
